Watch the Nuts...
When you are following a low carb diet, be careful about nuts. Yes, nuts are a healthy low carb snack with the "good" kind of fat. But, they are also very high in calories. It's easy to just keep munching on them, and end up consuming 500 or more calories worth of nuts. And that will undermine your weight loss efforts, because calories do count! So, be sure to measure out one serving, and just eat one serving.
Here are some typical serving sizes:
| Nut | Serving Size | Calories | | Raw Almonds | 1 oz (24 whole kernels) | 164 | | Walnuts | 1 oz (14 halves) | 185 | | Pistachios | 1 oz (49 kernels) | 161 | | Roasted Peanuts | 1 oz (35 peanuts) | 165 | | Hulled Sunflower Seeds | 1 oz (28 grams) | 167 | | Cashews | 1 oz (18 medium) | 163 |
