Email: How is your weight today?I recieved this email from a website visitor:How is your weight today. Sept 2006. What was the final key to losing weight? I have 45lbs to lose. I have one friend who just joined WW. Another who has lost 40 on Herbalife....drinking her way think. I just can not get going. I was a WW member 4 times and did not succeed. I am a member of TOPS, (take off pounds sensibly) but that has not worked....even as leader. I am just stuck. I want to be thinner. I am 204. Would like to be 158. I know my body wishes it too. Here is my reply: Hello, Thanks for visiting my website and writing to me. I know how hard it is to struggle with your weight. I was struggled with it for 10 years. I'm not really sure what clicked in my head that made me finally succeed. I think mostly it was commitment - that day I didn't fit into a roller coaster ride I said to myself I would go on a diet and stick with it for life. I don't even think it matters what diet you do. You just have to find one that fits your lifestyle and stick with it for life. If that stops working, find another one. It's not easy. But it's worth it and it feels so much better to be eating healthy. I currently weight 137 pounds. I've been at that weight for at least six months. I still watch what I eat and exercise alot. If I stop counting calories, then I find myself slipping back into old ways, like re-filling my bowl of cereal with just a little more cereal and just a little more milk and repeating that utnil I've eaten three servings! My favorite approach is to eat a controlled carb / lean protein diet like the south beach diet; and also count calories and exercise. (The south beach book says you don't have to count calories or exercise to lose weight, but I think you do!). To find out how many calories you need per day, go to my calorie needs page.
