Diet Tips E-mailI recently sent this email to someone who wrote to me asking for diet advice....Hi L, Thanks for visiting my website and writing to me. The best way to lose weight is to do the following: - cut out the bad carbs like sugar, cookies, cake, prepackaged snack foods, potoato chips, white bread, rice, etc. - try to eat lots of lean protein like chicken, tuna, lean beef - eat lots of fresh veggies - eat some healthy carbs in limitied quantities such as fruits, whole wheat bread, brown rice, etc - get some cardio exercise, such as treadmill, biking, walking, swimming, etc. Find some exercise that you like to do! Be sure you are not working out too hard....you should go as fast as you can while still being able to talk to a friend, or sing along to your music. Doing that will put you in fat burning mode. Going faster than will build strength and speed, but will not burn fat. - make it a rule never to eat after dinner!!!! Following these guidelines above, be sure to also count calories....figure out how many calories your body needs in a day by using my calculator. Pick sedentary or light for activity level...and we'll factor in the exercise calories below. Subtract 500 calories from whatever number you get. That should be your daily calorie goal, and should result in a 1 pound per week weight loss. If you try to cut your calories more than 500 per day, you will probably just feel starving all the time, and then giving up. So, try not to be in a hurry to lose weight. Another thing I do, is if I exercise for more than 30 minutes, I go to Caloriesperhour.com and figure out how many calories I burned off in my workout. I allow myself to eat that many more calories that day. I talk about the South Beach diet on my website. I think that is a very healthy diet to follow, to lose weight, and also for the rest of your life to maintain healthy eating habits. Here is a link that outlines the south beach diet rules. But be sure to also count calories....I think that is a critical thing that the south beach diet book leaves out! If you have any health problems like diabetes, weak heart, or any chronic disease, please make sure you check with your doctor before trying to lose weight.
